social commentary
There's a rich history of poetry serving as social commentary, intended to inspire calls to action.
Shame and the portal that is your self esteem.
Shame does not come loudly, shame does not look at you in the eyes and forcefully make her way into your body. Shame is invited in by the portal that is your self esteem. The lower it is, as shame enters the more room she will take. Shame will not yell or thump around, make noise in the home that is your mind & body, shame will whisper “maybe you are simply not good enough to be seen". Every time you try do something great. Though the true perpetrator, only hidden- is fear, pulling strings that attract an inner isolation. Desolating from who we think we are. Fraudulently living, like fitting into a pair of jeans 3 sizes up, how could we ever walk, better yet-run. Shame is invited in when unworthiness is born, to feel capable you feel full, no emptiness to be replaced with unproductive fear.

To Be a Jew
DISCLAIMER: This poem is in no way meant to be a overly religious piece. This is just about what it is like to feel like a minority that cannot be based off of things people normally cannot see when looking at a person who is Jewish. There is mostly about discrimination and that is all it should be about. I apologize if this offends anyone.
