Escape

Sometimes I sit and wish about having a perfect life or perhaps just a perfect place to stop & visit for a couple of hours to escape from this f*cked up reality of mine..

A place where our skin colors don’t matter & neither do the streets that we grew up on...

where the police aren’t are enemies & neither are our “friends”,

A place where even the richest person on this earth couldn’t afford to spend their time.

Where the clocks know no hours and don’t think to tick,

Just a safe space to breathe in and forget we exist.

Where a trip to the market won't cost us our lives... or going to the movies, or sitting in a church, or jogging, or walking home, or sitting on the couch, or asleep in our beds..

and the list can go on but i'll stop there for now with hopes that you got the point and it didn't go over y'all heads.

A place where forgetting to signal while driving isn't considered an exchange for our freedom.

Can we all learn in peace?

or do we need to stay strapped?

A place where its free to feed our brains the knowledge our hearts desire,

instead of training on how to avoid being shot.

Is it the land of the free or the land of the forgotten.

you know since that's what they tell us to do anyway.

"I mean it happened so long ago, right? Why you still so angry?"

However I can not forget and i'm reminded everyday that living life in America I still can't fully exist.

& it's the same way you held that grudge over something so small that could've been let go but ya know.. disrespect will not be tolerated.

WE WILL NOT FORGET.

So when will it stop?

Is our tears not enough.. are these innocent lives not enough?

Do we need to lose more people?

When will god have ENOUGH!!!

I pray for a place where we can find peace of mind,

& until then I pray we all find peace in our minds.
