June Jordan - In Honor
Today is October 10, 2018 and I am reflecting a lot on legacy and about the surgery that I just underwent. It is a time when my family has wrapped their arms around me to support my healing, and I am in a shift in my mind, and moving forward to my future. I want to honor Ms. June Jordan who was a poet, an activist, a survivor of abuse, a survivor of having to understand what it means to be Black and a woman, and a seeker of the truth from our lens.

The Drifter
When my world fell apart, I slowly became a drifter. Drifting through time with nowhere to go, no goal set in mind. Day's turned into weeks and weeks turned in to months I was still drifting. Drifter at night, even while I slept. I drifted to a new place, thinking I'll stop my drifting. However, I was sadly mistaken. I still drift even when i figured out my action plan. Drifting away from people, place, friends and loved one. For I am a Drifter and drifting away is what i do.
