It’s funny how you stole

All the best parts of me

And still asked me to stay

You stole all my best qualities

And all of my memories

My innocence was one

Love songs made two

My first dance was three

And it’s funny because

You didn’t even love me

We didn’t even dance

We didn’t even date

We never said I love you

But you still made me

Every day

Loving this series. You've chosen such perfect imagery to express the themes.

A tough reality indeed! I enjoyed this collection. I read them out of order, but I don't think it mattered. Each was cohesive with the others and equally heartbreaking.

Well-wrought! You might check out the album artwork for The Allman Brothers' "Eat a Peach", might offer further inspiration, just because it's good work. Here's the wikipedia article, with pics of the album art throughout: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eat_a_Peach

  • This was soooo heartbreaking! Loved your poem!
