Temptation is dangerous,
but it lights up
the brain’s pleasure center,
as it floods the neural system.
with neurotransmitters dopamine.
So, no animals,
is immune to temptations.
We are all slaves,
of our tongue,
we seek taste to tickle it.
So, on a stroll in the park,
one day,
I saw this tree squirrel,
perched on a picnic table,
licking a chocolate wrapper.
So, engrossed it was,
it was not perturbed,
as I approached.
It was sad to see,
for that's how,
addiction looks like.
Processed foods are horrible,
preservatives are allergens,
sugar is poison too,
for we humans.
For this small wild animal,
it must be more so.
But it got the flavor,
and seeking more.
We humans are in power,
to not let this happen—
and yet,
we are doing this mistake.
We don’t care,
for our own health—
why would we care,
for theirs?
Is not this the truth?
Can we have
more environmental awareness
and mend our actions,
if we Homo sapiens?
Note: Don't expose wild animals to processed foods. It's detrimental to their health.
