Fallen leaves of
autumnal Callery pear—
people may walk past them.
Some may think,
they are nuisance,
litter on the green lawn,
that needs raking.
Not for me!
To me they are,
like canvases of art,
patterns of pigmentations,
unique and ephemeral,
which must be admired
before they shrivel
and turn to dust.
The green leaves,
full of chlorophylls,
performed photosynthesis,
served as little kitchens,
fed the plant.
When the season changed,
nodding to the signals,
they fell off.
But not before,
cheering we, the leaf-peepers,
with riot of colors.
I encourage you all,
not to ignore,
such little miracles.
It’s the purpose,
of the finite life journey,
to notice the wonders.
