Spring into fun
Happiness and Light Unofficial Challenge

Toddling toddlers toddle in the grass
Chasing elusive will-o-wisps
Cackling as grasshoppers jump at last
*****
A jar of lightning bugs sits under a bush
A lamp to light paths of dreams
Where sugarplum fairies never push
*****
Jiminy smiles and rubs his legs
Music accompanied by songbirds
Perched on hummingbird pegs
*****
My knees ache and I rejoice
Every swollen joint a trophy
Won by love, endurance, supportive voice
*****
Grandkids chasing pellmell
Freeze tag, red light, green light
Grandpa's, got a story to tell?
*****
Small dark eyes, cherubic cheeks, rosy
Grin and nod for nothing is better
Than grandkids lovingly nosy
*****
I spin a tale of brave knights and lively dames
Bloodless battles fought and won
Basking in love as I make up silly names
*****
This world shines in the sun
It shimmers in diamond rain
Children’s laughter erasing every pain
*****
Grandma calls out “Lunch is ready”
Giggling toddlers dart inside
As my old heart swells, beating steady

Thank you for entering such a warm and uplifting piece Andrew l. Loved it. Currently reading the entries now and once I've conferred with the boss Mr Cox will be posting the results this week.
It drips with the joy of nostalgia. Thank you for sharing. 🙏👏
You had me at Grandkids chasing pellmell! Thanks for participating! Looks like you and I had an overlap in Army service. Just curious - where and when did you serve?
Awww, such a wonderful time! Loved your poem!
