Something New

A poem of question

As the dark takes over

I’ll watch the roses bloom

I’ll take into my heart their light

A light I won’t know soon

I’ll lie with them all through the night

And memories the moon

I’ll keep them safe and in my sight

And pray to see them bloom

As the dark takes over

I’ll feel the sullen sky

I’ll take unto my skin the tears

Of black clouds as they cry

I’ll let the rain expel my fears

And all my questions why

Will I come to know the engineers

Of the eternal sky?

As the dark takes over

Should I swim in ocean wave?

Let it push and pull my hand

And treat me as it’s slave?

Let it wash me up on sand

And make me dig my grave?

For I shall drown on its command

All knowing ocean wave

As the dark takes over

Should I cry for all my sin?

Watch the churches burn in flame

And see the wars begin?

Witness temples take the blame

And see men turn of kin?

Watch the angels bow in shame

And die for all my sin?

As the dark takes over

Should I give myself to you?

Or plant myself in soil

Grow into something new?

As the dark takes over

As over it shall take

Should I expect to burn

For goodness’ sake?
