She cries in her dream of forest

Lost cubs

~

She wishes not to wake up. Not to wake up from this lucid dream where the sounds of her own private wars are echoing the battles of men before her and near her.

She wishes to enlighten the moment when she finally finds her lost cubs. They must've hidden away thinking it was hide and seek. They could be somewhere in this enchanted forest...

She looks for the cubs, but they are nowhere to be seen. She wanders in the depths of the mythical forest where the unrealistic beings hide from the real world of judgment.

She feels hopeless though. She feels lost to her knees. She's weakening...

She can't control the feeling taking over her body. The feeling has won.

All she can do is lay there hopelessly...

Lay there while living in past regrets.

She cries herself to sleep...

Or awake~

But what is that in the distance?

A cub,

Another cub,

Another, another cub.

Tumbling out from the leafy green bush.

They assert to their mother,

Comforting her,

Snuggling against her warm, fuzzy coat,

Drawing solace from her peaceful presence.

She is now awake.

Awaken from her wildest dreams,

She feels the warmth from her babies,

Her dreams came true~

I feel almost that you are inspired by a mythological story or fable, choosing to take on the persona of the deity in the story. Am I seeing to much into this?

Enjoyed this poem. Congratulations on Top Story. Your line, "Drawing solace from her peaceful presence." makes me think the cubs are experiencing disquiet in their lives too. So maybe it's not just the mother's bad dream after all.

I love that you gave voice to animals, feelings and depth to their existence. Well done, and beautiful written. Congratulations

  • This is an outstanding piece of work. It shows that animals do have feelings when it comes to their young ones, just like humans. It is warm and touching. You can really feel the mother's emotions. I love this piece.
