Shatter

A stupidly self-indulgent piece.

Thumping

Pounding

Shattering

Music rendered into noise

Clashing notes

Writhing flesh

Gyrating figures

Constant blasting sound

Cascading

Torrenting

Crashing

Against my mind

Laying siege

Millions of points

Pinpricks of contact

Tiny painful jolts

Viewed from afar

Heaving flowing mass

Apart

Alone

Isolated

What no man should be

An island adrift at sea

Untethered

Floating loose

No mooring line can reach

Nothing can pull me in

The pounding sound

The heaving mass

of bodies all around

Barely feel

My feet where they rest

Upon the ground

At a distance

Even among the mass

Finding the time

Unaware of the rhythm

One in a million

Independent faces

Interchangeable

And unique

All in a second

All in an instant

All alone among the masses

First DraftFree Verse

Self indulgent indeed, good sir! But a thought provoking POV all the same! The way you painted the picture of a crowded dance floor had me cringing and I also would not enjoy that scene, even though I do love a good dance session!! 😅

I’ve felt this quite f ew times. Don’t know that the poem deserves your subtitle, I think it covers the feeling rather well
