Wind and wolf unite, they're howling at my door.

waiting for the chance to come inside.

Shadows tempt and call, seducing with wild allure.

fires glow and evil grins won't be denied.

*

The monsters that we make, when we're making what we want.

wills surrendered, taken, mercilessly they chant.

A voice I've left unheard, soft eyes I recognize,

looking at myself, a stranger's vague transplant

*

Shivers climb my spine, as I draw nearer to the door,

sensations fill my heart, with waves of dread.

I hear them clawing as they cry, a sense of sorrow fills the air,

and I no longer fear the thought of being dead.

*

As the door swings open wide, leaves scatter wildly in the wind,

the howling stops and I again, can breathe.

Until they call again, begging me to let them in,

Smiling or growling eludes but baring all his teeth.

surreal poetry

I could see the wolf on the doorstep and hear the howling wind, as well as feel the tension and anxiety of the moment. Well done!

    Haunting. Great poem Kelli πŸ₯°

  • I feel this. Like the wolf is my own inner conflict. When I open the door and give light of awareness, then all is calm... Until next time. πŸ₯Ή My interpretation anyway. Beautiful read!

  • Amazing stuff! The words you use in this are intense and paint a picture. My favorite line was "looking at myself, a stranger's vague transplant" such an amazing description. Well done!
