Ring Your Bell?

From A Conversation This Morning

By Mike Singleton πŸ’œ Mikeydred Published 2 years ago β€’ 1 min read
From "Pulp Fiction"

We were talking this morning about calling each other on the phone and I was challenged to write a poem by my Muse on the situation. I said that she could write one as she is an excellent poet, but this is just a bit of fun in the form of a villanelle.

Initially, I was going to choose a telephone song but Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell" seemed a perfect fit for one of the lines. I love that scene in "Pulp Fiction" and the words are pure poetry. I also love the Emmylou Harris take on it.

Ring Your Bell?

πŸ””πŸ“±β˜ŽοΈπŸ“žβ™ŽπŸ’œβ™‰πŸ“žβ˜ŽοΈπŸ“±πŸ””

Would You Mind If I Ring Your Bell?

To Wake You Up In the Morning

But Sometimes I Never Can Tell

πŸ””β˜ŽοΈπŸ””

My Phone Might Ring, Will Yours As Well?

Then The Damned Answerphone Kicks In

Would You Mind If I Ring Your Bell?

πŸ””β˜ŽοΈπŸ””

Can Ring Any Time On This Cell

And I Think It's You I'm Calling

But Sometimes I Never Can Tell

πŸ””β˜ŽοΈπŸ””

When We're Apart, You Know So Well

My Call Will Wake You Each Morning

Would You Mind If I Ring Your Bell?

πŸ””β˜ŽοΈπŸ””

When You Answer, We'll Talk A Spell

I'll Try To Be Your Prince Charming

But Sometimes I Never Can Tell

πŸ””β˜ŽοΈπŸ””

Says This Beast To Your Lovely Belle

And Say Good Morning My Sweet Thing

Would You Mind If I Ring Your Bell?

But Sometimes I Never Can Tell

There used to be little better than discovering that the phone was for me. Now it's almost always spam, lol.

  • I was wondering why you didn't reply to my comment on this piece so I came back here to check. Lo and behold, my comment is missing! I can't remember everything that I typed but I loved this poem!
