Be still
Be still and know
A child skips or runs and must be reminded
We are taught to slow down, be aware
A teenager must learn to think before acting
There are consequences, some find too late
A young adult rushes to make the most of life
So they won't turn out like mom and dad
By mid-age, there are no need for reminders
Our bodies begin the assault on youth and exuberance
The elderly know the pause. They know to be still
But not all know...
Not all recognize to be still and know that He is God
Faith has followed them always from the halls of kindergarten
To the walls of the homes they were put in when they "couldn't" anymore
Some find too late that if only they had paused, if they had looked for...
Well, they might have found joy in each moment along their way
The good thing about Faith, is that it's never too late, so
Be still and know

Well said! I especially like: “ The elderly know the pause. They know to be still But not all know... Not all recognize to be still and know that He is God” Timely reminder in the conclusion.🤗
I love the repetition of “be still and know” because it’s a wonderful message to reiterate within the context of your poem. Great read.
Amen
great
Such a gentle and thoughtful reflection. I really liked how you tied the stages of life to the reminder of stillness and faith — it felt both grounding and comforting. A beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to pause and reconnect.
it is worth reading!

This is such a beautiful reminder of how every stage of life teaches us to slow down.
