My Sprites
Having been instantly inspired by Kelsey Clarey's "Why I Write Poetry"

Poetry.
I find, takes turns and swirls from places in our souls that we didn't know existed.
They have a life of their own. Those poems...
You never really know what's coming at you or for you when they pounce.
Some are melodious and some are raw.
And there are funny ones you kind of like.
They are the sprites, the offspring of our deepest, darkest self.
They play hide and seek and show themselves only when they want to.
Stubborn and at times, rigid. But also soft and sensitive and angelic.
We come to know ourselves by their release...

I loved this so much!
Soo beautiful
I love the sprites... I think those poems are always the best, most authentic that carry something from each of us inside them.
True their various forms of poetry - and it is always a surprise.
This was lovely. I like that you mentioned that some poems are melodious and that some are raw. Putting both in a spotlight, helps me to not hold back when I am publishing poetry. Currently, my sprites are hiding from me. The last line was brilliant and I agree. We do come to know ourselves by their release. Outstanding work Shirley 👏🏾👌🏾❤️🤗
Love this! The comparison to sprite's is perfect!
So true, we have no odea what kinda poem is coming to us. It's always a surprise!
Love it, especially that last line! It hits true 😀
Beautifully written, Shirley!
Delightful characterizations of poems! Well done, Shirley!
Well said, beautiful words.
Exquisite work Shirley! Thx 4 sharing! 🩷🌸
So nicely written. I like your choice of words and the upbeat tone. Fun read!
I agree with this line: They have a life of their own. Those poems...
This is an evocative poem! Each poem has a spirit of its own and so does the individual writer. I'd like to think of sprites living in them!
