Love: Eclipsed for a Time

Each day you are growing, becoming more assured, no more the

Child you once were. No more needing me to guide your way.

Longingly, I watch from afar, proud and wistful,

Imagining the moment you'll turn and hold out your hand to me.

Perhaps? You'll need me at least once more to praise, guide, celebrate?

Surely our time revolving through space, moon and planet together, is still possible.

Eventually, we'll gravitate back together and dance across the sun again with me grateful to be in the shadow.

They grow up so fast. Embrace them while you can, little adults not knowing what flying solo brings.

Loved this poem Judey, made me tear up though. Reminds me we have to treasure each moment we can with our children

Your poem feels at once forward-looking and nostalgic. There's a haunting melancholy that your characters don't dwell on but rather prepared themselves to overcome. Love it.
