autism spectrum disorder.
Disorder is such an ugly word to follow Spectrum;
Spectrum; a word suggesting such a colorful array,
a rainbow spray
of indescribables
And an honestly perfect summation of what it means to be autistic
Some days we run red;
Stimulus is too high and all we can do is let burn the raging fires inside; towering infernos of feeling, no longer in our control and
threatening to scorch those who weren’t responsible with us
Some days blue; when the reality sets that this world was not made for us and we must pretend to be normal to survive. Use these clear waters to wash away your hope that Normalcy is achievable for you.
“Wear your yellow mask on this bluest day and no one will see your skin’s gone grey
No one will see the light’s gone dim
They’ll just be pleased You’re fitting in.”
