MARITIME ADVISORY:

An iceberg has been spotted.

Coordinates have been verified.

Our ship has been struck.

HAZARD DESCRIPTION:

Minor presentation at the surface,

Full breadth unknown.

COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS:

Icebergs move slowly.

If they’re visible, they’re avoidable.

They are static.

Modern ships can handle them.

We are unsinkable.

Damage happens only on impact.

Calm water is safer.

THE FACTS:

Icebergs can move swiftly.

Calm seas can make them harder to detect.

Impact is just the beginning.

Water ingress is progressive.

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

In the event of an iceberg,

Please wake all sleeping passengers.

This announcement is being issued to prevent irreversible loss.

REMINDER:

We are not unsinkable
