Phoenix

Rising from the Ashes

Phoenix

I wasn't the killer of your vibe baby; I was legit the walking cure.

For what I hold is an unseen magic of true love so pure.

But just like the rest, you misunderstood my heart.

Handed it back to me bleeding, you left it torn apart.

As I watched the horror through the tears of my own eyes.

Believing your promises turned into lies.

I spent years of my journey blaming myself.

While searching for you in everyone else.

Then one day it hit me, and I allowed it to make sense.

Your manipulation wasn't for me to be the one to repent.

While digging through the ashes I tore my soul down to the core.

To re-find my light so I can shine it once more.

So here I leave these memories dropped from my grasp.

To die where they belong, left in the past.

When you look behind you expecting me to still be on the floor.

Just know I found my worth and my price went up a lot more.

Don't be left shocked when no more you hear my cries.

Just know that I am grateful because of you I've learned to rise.
