When I remember the taste of old I’m stricken with grief,
because it terrifies me.
I’m not terrified because I like it,
I’m terrified because you don’t.
I’ve forgotten the savory inclination to hunger.
Stir up my universe,
so I can long after your grandeur.
Affliction latches me to your mind.
I’m going to suffer either way.

"I'm going to suffer either way" Oh so relatable!
This captures the struggle of rejecting a temptation so well! Not an easy task on both levels!
Well-wrought! Ah, temptation. I love Scorsese's "Last Temptation of Christ", where Jesus is more tempted to forgo his fate by a dream of a normal life than the promise of power on the mount. Simple cold comfort is what really lulls us into a somnambulistic state. Power loses its thrill much quicker!
That last line is so true. We're gonna suffer either way, no matter what. Your poem was so deep and I absolutely loved it!
Like Caroline said, that last line was so striking and resounding. Amazing work, so powerful and emotional.
That’s such a powerful last line. Great stuff.
Deep thoughts, well written. Great job, Natasha.
We shall overcome.
