The special operation is waging on

Say it loud, war is waging on

For families that have lived life long

On the borders of Ukraine and Russia

Borderlands of anguish,

Where hearts do mourn

Families shattered,

Forever torn

In this family setting

My heart goes to family settings

In Ukraine's regions of Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk

In Russia's regions of Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk

The Russians call them Oblast

The Ukranians call them Oblast

An adoption from the Soviet Union era

In Ukraine - Sumy Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, Luhansk Oblast and Donetsk Oblast.

In Russia - Belgorod Oblast, Kursk Oblast, and Bryansk Oblast.

Is this nomenclature a matter of coincidence

Certainly not but sameness

That has been destroyed shameless

I look at this cruel war

Whose cruel hand has wrought its woe

Pumping pounds of powerful pain

Making mothers mourn their children lost

Forcing fathers to fight to death

Delivering destruction to dreams

Searing the seeds of sameness

Blasting the oneness of Oblasts

For Oblasts are regions

For Oblasts are provinces

United in history afore

Not any more are Oblasts united historically

Or are they?

What will it take?

For children to laugh and play again

Unburdened by war's relentless pain

What will it take?

For mothers’ minds to mind only love

What will it take?

For fathers’ fists to fend for families only

Not bothered by this war's wantonness

Oh, Ukraine and Russia, we pray:

• For your borders to echo with love's sweet release
• For the sun to shine bright on your united lands
• For peace to make a special operation appearance
• And a brighter future for all revealed

Oh, leaders of Ukraine and Russia

Heed our plea, end this wanton war

For the sake of families torn apart

Cease the bloodshed, heed our heart
