Painting so Pure
Love is Made one Stroke at a Time.
The painting of us takes place by strokes
When we are old it will be something to tell the folks
Hand in hand we create
The most unique painting to date
The story of our love, the tale of our life
Of how I'm going to make you my wife
Every detail is filled with vibrance
You can see every memory in a glance
In the auction our painting won't sell
Why my dear? That I will tell
Because the story of our love is priceless
That I must confess
No one can buy the memories we've shared
Each memory we painted with care
The painting we have and are creating
Is far from fading
The strokes go on as the days pass by
And as I look on the painting, a smile so wry
As we engulf our love into this painting so grand
I can't help but realize where I stand
The love so oozes from the papers pores
And I realize that my love, my life is within the same doors
I put down my brush as the painting ceases
As I realize that I gave my heart to you piece by little pieces.
You have it all and I couldn't be happier
Day by day you make me be a little sappier
I grab the brush again with vigor
As I make the painting bigger
Tears of joy run down my face
As I turn to you my heart begins to race
The painting of love, the painting of our time
As I finish the final stroke so fine
The painting is marvelous for all to see
They gawk and squeal all with glee
A masterpiece you two have made!
As many come to the gallery to invade
To see this piece or to even catch a peek
Some even resort to methods such as sneak
We walk away from the onlookers in all
Leaving the painting standing so tall
The painting is rich and vibrant to be sure
But nothing could compare to looking at you so pure

The Field of Dreams
I remember rocking my son as a newborn. I was feeding him a bottle and humming to him softly. I began to wonder what infants dream about. I recalled the saying "The Field of Dreams," which stood out to me. Taking that to heart, I began what I originally called "Ovandos Lullaby," after the name of my son. Slowly the short story came to life. I have always thought that babies' dreams must be so surreal. This story I hold close to my heart. I Imagined my baby boy drifting off to sleep, fully trusting in his parents to take care of him and be there for him. Who watches over him while he sleeps? As I glanced around his room, I saw a little lion and elephant poking their heads out of a Noah's Ark figurine that was on his shelf. I couldn't help but smile as I wove the both of them in the story as his travel companions and protectors in the night.
