One Day When War Is Over

World prayers for peace

One Day When War Is Over

One day, when wars are over,

And silence soothes the sky,

The cries of fear and sorrow

Will fade, will pass us by.

One day, when bombs stop falling,

And guns are laid to rust,

The earth will heal her wounds again,

Reborn from ash and dust.

One day, when hearts stop breaking

For reasons none should know,

The seeds of love and laughter

Will find the space to grow.

One day, when hate surrenders

And kindness leads the way,

The hands of every nation

Will join in light of day.

One day, when war is over

And children smile once more,

Their laughter, bright as morning,

Will echo shore to shore.
