From the day we met, I suffered from the greatest infatuation,

your smile, your infectious laugh, your piercing eyes of blue.

So full of life, so fun to just be around, it turned to adoration,

the person you are, the laughter you bring, you were a friend so true.

--

Even when not together, I'd watch you from afar,

when you weren't there living under seeming gray eyes.

A day would go by and I wonder where you are,

missing you and feeling like a little part of me inside dies.

--

To become the best of friends, better friends there've never been,

days go by and I long to see you.

My heart tells me, worthy or not, I'd just be happy to see you again,

forever knowing that I'd fallen into a love so true.

--

Lives drag us in our own separate ways,

throwing curves into our travels as we find our own roads.

We never forget those earliest of days,

wondering about the friend, feeling ways that nobody knows.

--

In the midst of it all, you were always there in my heart,

and when you came back it was a pleasant surprise.

Overjoyed, that swell of emotions come back, a fresh start,

and I know that we feel the same, from the look in your eyes.
