Lost In The World

A lifetime it was supposed to be,

living a life so special with someone so special.

Promises made to the one and only,

never knowing that love was so fragile.

--

What happens to I love you

when it ends because of lies?

Things end when one is through,

while the inside of the other lays down and cries.

--

Time heals all wounds and bandages our souls,

as we move on into a new sunrise.

We have all at one time been made to look like fools,

walking through life with emptiness behind our eyes.

--

Try again they say,

tomorrow will be better.

With each passing night alone,

your pillows stop getting wetter.

--

A second shot at happiness comes around the bend,

a second great love for the deserving,

that you'll pray will never end.

Love doesn't come, you'll learn, in just one serving.

--

Life is like a buffet, filled with people alone,

lost souls looking for an anchor.

We're all needing someone,

in a desperate sea of rancor.

---

Try and try again, I might,

never to find that one.

Seeing the inevitable end in sight,

I've always known I'll die alone.
