Night Shift Sonnet
The dark world of night working

While lovers dream of fairy-tales
I drink caffeine in workers' hell
as blinding lights, fluorescent, pale
my pupils to submissive shells.
*
Surrounded by Zombies, my friends
entertain me like drunken clowns
of the Chucky kind, a movie land
that only lonely stars belong.
*
Behold! the evil witching hour,
when dark tales fly like bats across
the office floor, as others howl
their wanton lust for dawns first tease.
*
Soon, fairy-tale dreamers, angels of light
will release my terrors of the night.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I love how this captures the feeling of being stuck between night and day, dreams and reality.
Oooo, I absolutely loved the darkness here. So brilliantly done!
