The day that we met, she flat out, gave me a kiss,
she said not a word but let me tell her my wish.
All the ones put away, I'd told no one else
but she made me feel safe and so sure of my self
*
now, when I go, she goes too - the sun sets on my say
not true, but she's sure, it's my word they obey
They say you may have to kiss a few frogs
to get to the good ones, the love of a dog!

Awww, he's so cute and this was such a sweet poem!
Or you could just start with a dog instead of frogs. He/she/it is probably all you really need anyway.
