Mother's Day

I need solitude and cooperation as gifts

By Seema PatelPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
@Seema

I saw a mother and son

with a bouquet of flowers.

They must be celebrating,

Mother’s Day.

I’m a mother too—

but I don’t want,

any cards or gifts.

I want one thing,

from my kids

to respect my wishes.

Mommy is trying to help daddy

with the family finances,

by upskilling,

pivoting her career.

It takes immense effort,

a lot of time,

and deep focus.

"If you don't bother,

when she’s working,

at her study nook—

that means much more,

than any floral bouquet."

Flowers and gifts,

are not for me right now.

What I need them is,

to help fuel my motivation,

at this point in life

is solitude and cooperation.

Two very hard skills to show little kids-- solitude and cooperation--unless they really want to. Happy Mother's Day!
