Watching Nature Mindfully

Enriches my life

Not all walks are the same.

Maybe you go,

with the intent to burn calories—

Your music is on,

You're not paying attention

To what's going on,

around you.

Maybe you don’t recognize,

the flora and fauna,

so, you ignore them.

After all, we only cherish,

what we pay attention to.

I don’t go walking

To lose weight.

I don’t listen to music—

because I want to hear

nature’s melody.

I’ve honed lovingly,

my nature-knowledge,

that’s where my focus lies.

Suppose I pass above bush—

to many, it’s just a plant,

but to me, it’s a gardenia,

I inhale the fragrant flower,

enjoying aromatherapy.

I spot the mantis.

my mind whispers: camouflage,

and food chain,

only then, I move on.

For this mindfulness,

each nature walk,

is a sensory fun.

When I am walking around, I am usually looking at the clouds or listening and finding the birds that are around and just doing just that -- listening. Good job.
