Moon-Milk Eyes

Limerick for a muse of goddess like perceptions

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read
Goddess of the rising tide (not my art) by Elentori

I am but a lowly sailor, says I, cruelly cursing, cruising around in a messy tide

I am as messy as the wolfish sea so I sail with her, not against as I glide

On this ship I am captain, but so captivated I was by your milky starlight gaze, ocean sized

I tripped, I sunk, I subjected myself in a battered up keg of old fish eyes

They stunk and got in my toes and oh boy, I couldn’t believe it, my beloved, I was so embarrassed I could have died!
