Mirror
Wonderland Poetry Prompt Challenge Day 18

I often think
of the hours wasted
watching questions ripple
in mercurial pools of silver.
Glass framed in gilded oak,
ornate and quiet,
a door that seemingly never opens.
My reflection never smiled.
She tilted her head, uncertain,
questioning my worth.
"Who are you?" she asked,
with a smirk I knew all too well.
I looked deeper,
past the whispered twirls of auburn,
past the dappled angel kisses,
past the amber that once believe in magic,
and there,
beyond all the surface myth,
the soft flickers of a lamppost
aglow in a hushed, peaceful, cobblestone street,
fueled by starlight.
Who am I?
I am the light.

Whimsical… I especially liked: “ "Who are you?" she asked, with a smirk I knew all too well. I looked deeper, past the whispered twirls of auburn” Here’s my entry: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/truth-or-lies-s7rbq0mlo%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
You're definitely in your element with these! Very impressed with how great each one is day after day!
Here's mine: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/mirror-2i7bi0t75%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E Again, with the last line that brings it all together. Mirrors invite introspection, don't they?
Great descriptions. An excellent poet. Do members have to post their poem on the day? I assume this one is simply “mirror” to be interpreted? I’m not on threads. Just trying to get my head around it. 🙂
This is my favorite line "past the amber that once believe in magic" the whole poem is filled with warmth. I brought you another entry <3 https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/looking-glass-hoirq0eoz%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
This is so lovely. Is this a challenge. I shall look, it's not clear here.
Hi Ellie, here is my Day 18 poem: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/mirror-mirror-on-the-wall-rafe80vjy%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Well-wrought! We are the light that shines through the darkness, and the shadowed objects around which light bends.
I didn’t expect that at the end! Lovely poem, Ellie! 🌷
Very nice 👍
