Mirror, Mirror On the Wall

Wonderland Poetry Prompt Challenge Day 18

PAST

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Tell me what you saw

Can you tell me where I’ve been

Or would you rather leave it unseen?

I see a shadow of a man that was

Lost in a hopeless cause

His heart is gone, his face is drawn

Casualties of what he has undergone.

PRESENT

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Tell me what you see

Can you see a reflection? What did you find?

I see someone who is damaged by years unkind

Someone who has lost their way

Someone who simply can’t express

The hurts and all the stress

But tries to stand up straight, nevertheless.

FUTURE

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Tell me what you see

Can you tell me what future you see?

You cannot put that prophecy back onto me

Your future is your destiny

That you alone decide

But I see a man of untold drive

And with that, I know you will survive.

******

Till next time,

Calvin

Excellent take on the prompt🤩… I like the 3 time periods/tenses & also the positive conclusion, despite the challenges faced throughout life.✅
