Familiar in the Shatter

Wonderland Challenge Day 18

A reflection too poetic to be real, yet too vivid to be ignored,

as if your presence lives in the fissures,

in the hairline cracks where desire once struck the glass like a whisper too sharp to survive.

I press my fingers to the cool edge,

and the shatter sings beneath my skin,

a tremble that mirrors the first time you looked at me

as though you'd known my soul for centuries,

like love was not something we fell into but returned to,

an orbit older than either of us was willing to admit.

I write to that gaze now, the one that unravels me and binds me all at once,

because in this fractured silver,

there is still the echo of your eyes,

and I cannot help but believe the mirror remembers you too.

I read these words & I see in my mind's eye the depth of love shared by you & your rock star beloved that reaches beyond years, sickness & all else to become something which wraps you whole & together as one & so much more.

Love how romantic this is - and the mirror, though broken, still holding the memory. That's beautiful

Oh, yes. That love that crosses ages. I loved the romanticism of this, Diane.
