"All the Little Indras, Marching like Ants..." A submission for Natasha Collazo's "Calling All Poets" challenge!

The mistake they always make
Is to believe something at stake
But when the balance is always zero
Who’s the real hero?
<>
I never cared much about myself
I am, after all, just a silly elf
Or mayhap one of the other fae:
Puck, PAN, the Trashcan Man—who can say?
<>
My name is Butler, that’s for sure,
But I'm neither your servant nor janitor.
When I come along it is all too clear
Something's wrong and reckoning's near!
<>
I could be a thief, mage, or factory hand;
I could be a sage—there's no one brand!
But one thing I’m not is your fucking bitch
So watch yourself or our roles might switch!
<>
In the ancient of days I was the god of thunder
But I have more fun as the king of blunder,
For when the High get mighty or the Mighty get high
I’m the storm, unexpected, that throws dirt in their eye.
<>
Despite all that I’m a pretty good bloke.
C’mon! Laugh! It’s the cosmic joke!
Did you think it all at my expense?!?!
Well, now you know!
In time…
EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE!

Rommentary:
The subject of reincarnation is one I've delved into deeply, as I've felt very strongly that this is not my first, nor will it be my last, trip on the merry-go-round.
In the wild and tumultuous turns of my imagination, I see myself as something ancient animating a finite body, and was pleased to find, especially in the religious traditions of the Brahmins, quite a lot of information and elucidation on the subject which, even if only symbolic in a Jungian way, helped me to come to terms with the self.
I was a lustful youth, though now a calm and peaceful man, so Puck or PAN fits nicely, though I must say the time for that has passed.
The Trashcan Man can be construed as a reference to the manic character in Stephen King's The Stand, who plays an unexpected role in the events of the story.

Such a captivating poem and well written. Good luck.
First, Love the chosen image. There is so much going on, so much to unravel. The meat grinder says volumes in itself. Second, I also believe in reincarnation. Somewhere in the creation of personality, there has to be a concept of fairness. Not everyone is born in a desirable situation, therefore, we get many chances to learn lessons by coming back. If for example, they are born paraplegic or born in a third world country where there are little to no opportunities, how can that be fair if we only get one chance at this? I think I watched every episode of "The Ghost inside my child" Originally released on the LMN network but you can find episodes on You Tube. Kids aren't great liars, so the stories are compelling. You should check out an episode or two.
Love the tongue-in-cheek-ness I get from this 😁
Downright amusing! Go CRB! 💪🏾🫶🏾🌸
I've always been fascinated with reincarnations as well. I've heard that souls plan everything for their life before taking birth. I just hope my stupid soul gives me a better life in the next one, lol. Loved your poem!
Some people are so smart, they must be reincarnated, like you for instance, sure u were here b4.
lol, your poem is awesome even without the mention of the Trashcan Man, who is one of my favorite characters in the Stand.🤣
This was neat to put my imagination to your words here. I love getting to know different people and views of how they see life. And like you put here, even if only symbolic it helped you come to terms. That’s what writing is about. Exploration of what we feel. Great entry!
You had me at the balance is always zero, Rommi, and your Loki/Puckish poem!
