Mae and Moe

Build a time machine (Bit of irreverence in this one, discretion advised).

By Novel AllenPublished 3 years ago 3 min read
Q

Mae and Moe decided that they had had it with this dang blasted world

They were going to build a time machine and get the heck outta here

Maybe they would pay a visit to Heaven, t'would be ok to get stuck up there

Maybe not Hell though, cause ha ha ha, wouldn't want good old Satan

Getting a hand on them and their time machine

Their machine would be made entirely of clocks, they decided

Thus ensuring they would never run out of time. Righttttt!!!!?

Moe and May started buying clocks from far and near

Online, offline and from every possible line they shopped

~~~~
Time somehow heard the unfortunate news
And decided he would not be having it
Imagine the infernal confusion
If time disappeared from the world
And TIME got stuck serving only Mae and Moe
Time thought and thought, came up with a plan
He had seen a story long, long ago
Where people built a tower leading up to the heavens
The Tower of Babel, they named it
But the Earth FATHER, hanging out happily Heavenward
Without his children, I may obviously point out
His kids are left to fend for themselves back down here on Earth
He sits in judgement, way, way up there beyond the clouds
(Is he not the most fortunate father of all fathers, the original and the
smartest, fathering from afar)
Pshaw!
So fathering from afar was the ALL FATHER (not the one from ASGARD)
Where he could scold, chastise, punish and terminate his children
Do away with them, pretty much at his whim and fancy
ALL FATHER back then had smelled a rat
"Imagine all my blessed children, those spoilt, rotten, evil, selfish
fruits of my immortal absent loin, imagine them all
Start marching all the way up to Heaven
Whenever they had a mind. Asking for money, immortality and God
Knows what. Needy, whining, spoilt brats (there were a few good ones)
Enquiring about my absence and seemingly uncaring heart and soul".
The Father devised a plan, 'strike them silly with misunderstanding'
He blessed them all, gave them a taste of the gift of befuddlement
Made them all speak in different tongues, thus languages were born
~~~

And another thing Mae and Moe discussed was

How come this original FATHER, up there in Heaven

Conveniently has no wife

To scold, chastise and keep HIM in check

They were pretty sure that a mother would have wanted

Very much to be with, and nurture her children (maybe)

~~

TIME therefore, went about resetting all the clocks of the world

Taking his cue from the wise one from long ago

Every clock now minded its own business

~

Sleep and Wake had a hard time keeping up

Those who were supposed to be asleep were awake

Those who were supposed to be awake were asleep

Businesses were closed when they were supposed to be open

And open when people were sleeping

Poor Moe and Mae got so confused and tired

No more clocks could they find, so they finally decided

To just work with what they had, They built the machine

With what little time they already had

They finished the time machine and set sail one moonlit night

Up, up they flew and touched the moon. Moon smiled sleepily

Blessing their ill-fated flight

Time was fast running out, as the batteries in the clocks

Which powered the wonderous flying thing, slowly wound down

Two shadowy arms suddenly reached down and gathered the two

Wrapped them in satiny cloudy arms of silken sleep and bliss

And so spirited them away

Mae and Moe got their wish after all

They were now out of this world

~

And time still marches on

Leaving the world with different time zones

Depending on where you are

We eventually learned to figure it out

Different languages which are spoken

Now have interpreters a'plenty!

~

Some still asleep when others are awake!

But that is ok!

Time won. It will always win!

    I am sir Grz of colm from Australia - from the future of the world 🌍- we may be down down under but we can tell you the future! Here here to psychics and time zones! I have not idea what I am talking about - just trying to jump onboard the Novel train! Can I please have a little of what you’re smoking… this mythical funny tale was satirical and fun and all kind of odd in a good way!! I love the story of the towel of Babel! Babbling out…
