You Need Good Bait To Catch This Fish
If not she swims away now

You Need Good Bait To Catch This Fish
You do not throw a wish into the water,
You study the tide and the patient pull beneath.
You learn the hunger that circles in silence,
And wait until trust drifts close enough to breathe.
I watched the surface pretend it was calm,
While deeper currents rehearsed their truth.
Some hearts only rise for the right offering,
Not noise or glitter, only proof.
I held my breath and softened my hands,
Letting stillness do most of the work.
Desire does not chase what feels hunted,
It follows what never lurks.
When the line finally tightened with meaning,
It was not force that brought you near.
It was care disguised as patience,
And timing sharpened by fear.
I did not boast of what I could give,
I showed it by knowing when to wait.
The rarest catch is never fooled,
It chooses the hook called fate.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
