People have tried and failed to define love over centuries.
It is different things to different people.
We all need love, of course, but that love looks different for you and me. I am not the gatekeeper of love (or it’s definition) but this is my experience:
It’s a look.
It’s the sound of laughter, light and airy, or a deep guffaw.
It is the quiet moments just sat together.
It is what motivates and inspires us.
It’s making your loved one a hot drink when they are sick. Sometimes it’s the sharing of an illness, even if unintentional!
It’s the unwavering encouragement towards all endeavours.
The gathering of a lunch or a dinner when time, energy or money is tight.
It’s the silly arguments that are heated.
And is the eyeroll when exasperated.
The sharing of a book, film, box set, art, music that is beloved, to new eyes and ears.
It’s the hope for the future but also the warmth of the past.
The sharing of worries, stresses, successes, joy, pride and pain of life.
It’s a sense of family, irrespective of blood ties.
Love is a sense of belonging.
Love is home.
