Whisper Loud: Inverse

It's all in your head...

what they've said all along...

unmotivated thoughts are to blame for

fabricating words, knowing

I don't have the composure for

translation...

It's forever a hapless

puzzle

Everywhere I turn, there is a new

obstacle in the way

I keep close guard for the

ambush to happen

I carve endless circles in my mind waiting for

the puppet masters' next move,

racing to that place where I know

decisions are made...

time ticks voraciously

when actions command attention...

all eyes are on you

peeling away the heavy layers

to pass judgment...

I don’t know why I'm content

to do nothing at all

procrastination is likely

to save the day, or at least the moment

That works quite well Lamar. Is this your first time writing an inverse poem? Was it challenging? What was the most helpful aid/tactic you used in writing it?

  • I think it is a bit unusual for an inverse to work quite this well backwards! Well done :-D x

The oxymoron of the title set a great stage for this piece! And the final lines really anchor an excellent pivot! Well done!

Procrastination, that old thief of time! Tis very hard to fight it. But fight it we must, for time hurries on. A lot to think about in this one.

Your stat is challenging your story is so beautiful you write like this you will be a great writer I wish and yes one more thing please open my vocal id and a story come later

  • Ooh this was so well done! That one really hit when I read it in reverse and it finished with “it’s all in your head.” I am someone who struggles with procrastination too so reading that part, backwards and forwards, it was really interesting. Excellent job with this!

Wow Lamar, this was amazing!! You really nailed this challenge!! It felt like a journey of self doubt and then the other way it felt very cynical!! Great work!!

Anxiety can be overpowering at times...our thoughts sabotage our productivity. Great poem!

Amazing inverse, Lamar! This definitely leaves me with some powerful thoughts. Tells such a compelling story/message both ways! ❤️❤️

Wow! Excellent inverse. Paranoiac read in one direction and eerie/spooky in the other!

The battlefield in our head affect our daily life for sure. I found this method on YouTube by this lady Robbin. 5 second rule. It really help me get started until the momentum comes. I count to five and fix my bed when I give up no matter what everyday. Just to feel A sense of accomplishment. I do 3 task everyday with the five second method.

  • Oooo, there were so many hinges in your poem. Sorry by hinges I mean turning points. I hope what I'm saying makes sense because I don't know the proper word for it. Loved your poem!

    Very good, forwards and back.

This is so clever, it flowed so well I forgot to read it backwards at first, and then it reads just as well the other way 😁

  • I'm waiting to see how this all turns out..., ...very quietly. Procrastination is my wife's way of life. After all, she could die & then she would have wasted all that time doing something she didn't have to. (And no, that's not all in my head. She cites her philosophy frequently.)

  • Nice. That is genius how you reverse the effects of procrastination depending on whether you read it forwards or backwards! Maybe I'll pop this into my template and see how it sounds with the AI voice.
