For Poppy's Prompts #5. Words: paint, erode, envelope, descend, wind

---

Painted thoughts erode

in wind-battered envelopes;

while love remains lost,

and our future descends into the same frozen void

as those letters you say you never received.

    Damn this hit hard. Made me think of The Notebook. "Love remains lost" was a heartbreaking line and that ending was so solid. I adored this Cathy.

    So very lovely and tragic. The idea of love not just lost but misplaced is powerfully rendered here. Really well done, Cathy!
