Look at me!
A spontaneously born allusion to a certain episode of a certain animated TV show.

Relax! Let your reflexes take the lead,
Inhale, exhale: it's air retail—
Please, buy in bulk, and use in time, agreed?
We're free, e.i. released on bail,
Until we fail and lose and flee.
Blue skies derail; you stay so still,
Portraying calmly what you feel.
The canvas of your face
Fragile and sad and pearlescent,
Luminescent.
No time, too little space,
They curve and curl and weave
In all mysterious ways I can't conceive,
And leave no trace.
Reflected from the moon,
Reflections carefully sieved
Through millions and millions of wee dew beads,
They seed an image in my head.
Please, look at me!

I square my shoulders.
I stand upright. I made my stand
With my head down, you see?
My thoughts, my soldiers
Are tangled and disunified,
Undignified.
I'm—
Look at me!

I choke up on the club.
And strike; and putt!
My eyes I rub,
Relieved and satisfied: all good!
You're free.

Fun, and I love your startling use of word and image. Those eerie dolls remind me of your words here... At least there aren't any pickles and sewer rats in this one: I think you could make some kind of excellent ballad out of that! ;)
Andrei, I love the creep little doll images in the middle of the poem. There was something about them that made me smile. Totally distracted me though and I had to reread your work a couple times lol. But also I wanted to reread it because this was such a fun piece! Kind of in love with the whimsical and cheeky writing style of this piece!
"The canvas of your face Fragile and sad and pearlescent, Luminescent." Great job with that rhyme and seemingly difficult rhythm. And a very fun and enthralling read. I haven't seen much of Rick and Morty to understand the allusion that well, but I enjoyed it very much all the same. :D
I love that this was beautifully written and quite visual... and seemed to be inspired by an episode of Rick and Morty?! Haha I wouldn't have guessed that, but it's amazing!
Well done, Andrei Z.💕💖💖
