Liquid Luxury

Day 15/366 days of writing and publishing in 2024. It’s a snow day today and so I’ve been lounging at home. I didn’t have to go to work. All day I’ve gone between watching old episodes of SATC (lots of martinis in this show, and sleeping.) Around 5pm I wanted something. A liquid dream of sorts. Not a problem for me because I used to design beverage programs in my former life. So I thought about what I had in the house and then this cocktail and poem unfolded. Luckily my roommate is a sommelier and so I made him one too and then we came up with the name for the drink together. This is how our entire lockdown was spent.

In the realm of liquid luxury, behold,

A cocktail crafted with stories untold.

Jamaica's Blue Mountain, French press delight,

A sip of paradise, a taste so right.

From ancient lands where Mayan legends dwell,

A gift from gods, they say, they'd proudly tell.
