Linda - is lovely in Spanish
A day late ....oops.
We are in this place of our life
Where we may not always remember
Yet, we never forget what counts.
Memories have become stepping stones
On the path of our journey together.
Moments together are mere breaths we take
So natural
So perfect
So needed
So desired
My light comes not from the Sun
But from your unspoken love
Words are ephemeral
Where as
A touch
A look
A memory
Are forever .
Our lives
Are songs not yet sung
Poems not yet written
Dreams still worth living.
We once shared burdens of everyday life
Leaning upon each other for strength
Now we share laughter from secrets only we know.
I wake you each morning because you like your sleep
You replace my toothbrush because I never remember.
We are comfortable in silence
Being close is enough
Yet, after years of conversation
we still have much to say.
We work on 'Wordle'
We curse with 'connections'
We challenge one another in 'crib'
If there is a Heaven
How can it be better than this?
Time creeps upon us with each passing day
Yet touches you not
You were beautiful when I first saw you
And became more beautiful every day after.
We may not always agree
But agree that we hate to disagree.
Are there any stories we haven’t heard a hundred times?
I think not.
Therefore, let’s make new stories together
And share them with each other a hundred times more.
Tonight, I will kiss you, as I have a thousand times before
And it will be as sweet as the first.
Tomorrow we shall do it all over again
And again
Is there anything better in life?
I think not.
Forever yours.
Jason
Yesterday was our Anniversary, 37 years (October 8th).
What did I do? I chose to write a story that was slightly disturbing for a Vocal challenge. If you follow me, you will know that Linda reads my work before I publish, adding her insight. After reading it, she looked at me and said, 'Can you please write something more uplifting.'
Fair enough, I will work on something.
For now, I hope this will suffice.
Below is the story I submitted, granted she may have a point. But I stand by my work.
P.S. ( if you read this far):
Linda will say: "Linda means Pretty in Spanish"
It also means 'Lovely' and I prefer the flow in the title better.

I have enjoyed writing for most of my life, never professionally.
I wish to now share my stories with others, lets see where it goes.
Born and raised on the Canadian Prairies, I currently reside on the West Coast. I call both places home.

Muy Bien mi Amigo. y Linda is bonita. btw; my twin and I were born Oct 8th. He is 12 minutes older so he's the alpha... fer-sure. Happy New Year para tu y su esposa..! Jk.in.l.a.
Your writing captures what true partnership looks like comfort, growth and choosing each other every day.
Gorgeous work Jason! Happy Belated Anniversary!
Linda is pretty lovely if you ask me :) You managed to fill every line with so much love and appreciation, it made me feel the same way. No, actually I felt too much and even teared up. It reminded me of my boyfriend and he's sitting right next to me, so I had to give him a hug to release all the feelings :D So beautiful.
Happy Anniversary! Your marriage is a true romance story!!!!
Happy belated Anniversary, J! I bet she enjoyed this poem. And this line here says it all: -If there is a Heaven How can it be better than this?- 🤩
Tu historia es muy linda. Happy anniversary. I like Linda's suggestion: uplifting stories 🍂🍁🌞 are welcome these days 🍁🍂.
What makes this piece special is its balance of romance and realism. You portray love not as grand gestures, but as shared laughter, habits, and mutual understanding—the quiet magic of companionship.
Awww, this was so sweet! Wishing you and Linda a veryyyyy Happy Anniversary! 🥰🥰🥰
Love the entire poem, but especially the toothbrush part. I'm totally going to steal it to use it in a novel or something!
“You replace my toothbrush because I never remember.” This is me and my wife every single trip. That’s how I know she’s the one.
What a lovely poem, Jason! And congratulations on your anniversary, 37 years together is very impressive.
This is so beautiful AND lovely!!! Happy Anniversary Jason & Linda!
