An Elegy for Fallen Leaves

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read
The lacrimal glands have yet to fully develop.

Where beings of sentience,

Languish in nascence

In shadow worlds imprisoned

By dark spectrum's sin, prismed

.

Where the Word of God

Is blurred with the rod

And the gates of Eden

Malfunction, uneven

.

The waiting is timeless

The remembrance, spineless

For no one will save

The unborn, betrayed

.

The end is endpointless

Ambulation fares jointless

Creatures of mis'ry

Enshackled by ros'ry

.

A myth, of course, those there

Pithed with love and with care

Are consolations borne, from Earth

By those born but once, not rebirth

..

The depths of existential desire and the eerie remnants of what may have been are explored in this poetry.
