Like a bee drunk on nectar,

I cling to your flower.

When the world feels absurd,

fly away, like the bird.

When the song that I sing,

can't be heard, for the thunder.

I holdfast remembering, this is your spring.

Through the seasons you keep me,

I need never worry.

Like the leaves on the trees,

protected from the fury.

Though the wind and snow blows,

I am kept safely harbored.

You enable my growth,

gently touched by the author.

You've written my story,

on the back of your hand.

Everything you have for me,

beckons at your command.

Anything that I crave,

has been placed here, before me.

From the cradle to grave,

I have all that I need.

  • To echo & channel a bit of Tevye, "So why did it have to be this story you etched upon the back of your hand--& don't you wash them from time to time?"
