Lights Beyond

A poem about the holiday season

The Christmas Star - Image by Author (Captured December 2020)

Long after all the lights go dark

sweet kisses stolen, creating mistletoe sparks

children's laughter drawing to a close

as the evening dims and the snowflakes flow

lights beyond start to capture your eyes

secret wishes start to fill the skies

even in the cold, a distant warmth grows deep

as starlight fills earth hearts that sleep

listen close into the silent night

the stars are singing with words so bright

joy and peace are in our dreams

no nightmares dreamt, no fear is seen

lights beyond are a seasonal gift

Christmas stars each one a wish

goodnight to darkness, greetings to light

a gift to all on this beautiful night.

Thanks for letting me share this, it was a joy to write for this challenge, and as much as I love the night sky it seemed fitting for me write about that as my theme.
