The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. The room is a narrow cell with a single light and a door locked from the outside. On the wall facing the bunk is a large flatscreen.

HEART-SHAPED BOX
Frannie pulls the covers tighter over her shivering slender shoulders. Sweat trails from her strawberry curls over her oval face; the saltiness beckons her tongue to lick the corner of her pouting lips. Her eyes dart quickly as she moans softly then laughs out loud like a giggly teenager. A body on the other side of the bed rustles from the sudden sound then settles into stillness again.

HEART OF A DRAGON
I witnessed the atrocities and horrors of war. My small village was an idyllic oasis nestled among the forests and pure waterways and greenery of the countryside. We played as children do, uninhibited and free in the beautiful natural environment gifted to us by our forebears.

ADVENTURES WITH FREEDOM
I jumped in a Chevy van in the East Village of Manhattan with a small bag, enough for a rideshare across the country. It was just myself, my twin sister (we're from Poland) and this guy behind the wheel I never met. My sister had an instant curiosity about him. He introduced himself as Freedom Goraç. "Ready to go west?" Hell yeah.

It was the Ceremony for Recognition, a celebration to commemorate the reentry of the Union. Newman, and everyone young and old, even Grandma, was milling about seeking something. Suddenly the word “Molitar” bubbled up and broke the surface of Grandma's consciousness. Everyone knows Molitar. The children exclaimed, “Molitar!”
