Let it Rain

Let it Rain

I just wanted to find myself

to claim my heart as my own,

Stand on my feet

win my own war.

The Battle rages on.

Surrounding and pushing,

the road once paved,

now covered, overgrown bush.

Where I landed,

I doubt I will ever know,

as it crumbles.

It's soft torture.

It's a feather caress on skin

barely a tease,

I just wanted to find myself.

My own place

for this world

running it's own race.

Did I even leave the start line?

How many laps am I behind?

Out of breath.

It's too much.

Don't fret about me,

I don't think I was

meant to run the race.

I just wanted to find myself,

Good-bye road, track, and crude shrubbery.

I have to find my own,

as I find myself

The race was not meant to be won.

Just enjoyed by all.

The thrill of competition,

as we find out own strength

and way.

I've found myself.

So let it rain.
