A bright smile among shadows
A gentle touch on the arm
The caring voice of a friend
Thoughtful gifts, unexpected
Words of encouragement and support
The enveloping arms of a tight hug
Support during tough times
And happiness during bright times
In a world such as ours
One so mean, cruel, and angry
So fully shrouded in darkness
In these darkening times of sadness
The most rare thing
One can be lucky enough to find
Is a simple kindness
