Instructions for Disappearing

If you want to disappear

Blame yourself a little

More each time they

Hurt you

Convince your heart

It's your fault

Every time they

Break another piece

Of who you were

~

Let your dreams die

A little more

Every day

It doesn’t get better

Stop being you

Hide the bruises

Hide the way

They make

You feel

Get lost

Inside the fear

~

Smile and tell them

What they want to hear

Walk on eggshells

Make dinner

Clean the house

Do anything you can

To keep them calm

To keep the hurt

From coming

Again tonight

~

Keep secrets

Make promises

Make plans

No one

Knows about

Be brave

Be strong

Wait for the time

When they think they've

Finally beaten you all the

Way down

~

Pack a bag

Only what you need

Don't think about

What you're doing

Just

Open the door

Walk out

Take your

First breath

Of free air

And run

~

Keep moving

Keep running

Don't question

If you can

Don't look back

Just

Disappear

So all they find

Is a ghost

When you're

Gone
