Lonely

For the disappearing

You don't need instructions if you want to disappear

You don't have to follow steps or read a recipe to get it right

All you need is a broken heart, the rest will come naturally

Loneliness will wrap a warm, suffocating blanket around you

Hurt will build a home in all the empty spaces they used to fill

Smiles will dance like ghosts in the movies playing in your mind

The world will keep spinning, but you won't want to go around anymore

Crowded rooms will feel deserted, because you will always be alone

Nothing will look the same after everything they gave you is gone

And when you see them again, holding hands, walking down the street

The last parts you had left will scatter like ashes to vanish in the wind

No one will see you, no one will understand why you can’t move on

Why the sun feels cold, why you don’t take calls or go out anymore

Hiding from people whose lives are still happy will become a game

You hate to play, because you already won the prize of knowing

The sky doesn't have to fall, the mountains don't have to crumble

The seas don't have to flood, the world doesn't have to end

For everything to fall apart, all it takes is a word, to lose the life

You thought you were going to have, all it takes is for love

To say goodbye, to make you disappear

A ballad for two. One listening, and the other soaking tissues. Poetry becomes a work of art in the hands of those who honor it. And you craft it beautifully. 🥰

  • Brilliant entry… so tragically sad and far too common an occurrence. I especially like: “ Smiles will dance like ghosts in the movies playing in your mind The world will keep spinning, but you won't want to go around anymore Crowded rooms will feel deserted, because you will always be alone.”

That first line opens so hard and the rest follows it perfectly. You've made a real masterpiece, one that aches in the chest. Amazing!
