In my Country

My Africa

In my country, my dear country

Well sweat and grace work hand and in hand

Where things are never enough but still we carry on

Salaries are paid but not on time

Things are on the hike and yet we spite

People cry and yet they laugh

Things are on the hike again but salaries are never increased

Thieves are celebrated and dignity ignored

Leaders refused to let go of the reign at the followed peril

It’s all and always about me, and who cares about you ?

Youth grope in endlessness, looking for direction, and yet none found

Sweat and misery with no wreath or glory

Yet, we move on no never stopped

You have all it takes ?

Treasure? Both Natural and man made ?

Why then are we here ?

It’s full of honey and bitterness

Of misery and laughter

Of sweat and glory

Of peace and strife!

Yet, you remain the giant !

The trail blazer

As I know you have the power to win

The will to strife

And the energy to drive

It’s all in you my father’s land

Soon and very soon it shall rain!

Where and when we shall once again smell the sound and sweetness of rain

Feel the calmness that it bring

When all things planted shall grow

And now will be of the past

Only to be nothing but the present and the future !
